UC named 1 of 4 top design schools in the world
UC’s Design School was one of four worldwide to earn BusinessWeek’s recent distinction as setting the 2007 “gold standard” based on its “incredible collection of fascinating products, services, research, student work and concepts.” Read more.

Governor creates The University System of Ohio
Ohio Governor Ted Strickland has directed the establishment of The University System of Ohio, which more closely networks the state’s 13 public colleges and universities in order to deliver better, more affordable higher education for all Ohioans. Read more.

Top firms select UC as Innovation Incubator
UC recently assumed a key position as a “linchpin institution” in a new innovation consortium that will include leading corporations such as Procter & Gamble, General Mills and CitiGroup. Read more.

McMicken College of Arts & Sciences names new Dean
UC has appointed Valerie Gray Hardcastle as the 20th dean of its largest college. The nationally recognized scholar and administrator, who arrives from Virginia Tech, will assume her official duties in early September. Read more.

Renowned UC alumnus Oscar Robertson was the keynote speaker at Spring Commencement. His remarks were preceded by a video that beautifully summarized his remarkable journey. Watch the video.

New Canadian Grads soak up commencement experience
A trio of distance-learning students in UC’s Fire Sciences program visited UC for the first time in June. They marveled at their “new campus,” celebrated at the UC Alumni Association’s “Grad Bash,” and then walked during Commencement. Read more.

Gift creates the Winkle College of Pharmacy
The UC College of Pharmacy has become the James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy in recognition of a $10-million gift from a member of the college’s Class of 1958. Read more.

Gift strengthens Lifelong Learning opportunities
A recent gift has changed the name of UC’s Institute for Lifetime Education to the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Cincinnati, making the program even stronger. Read more.

UC receives Eminent Scholar technology research funding
The only two 2007 Ohio Eminent Scholar Awards, made in conjunction with the state’s Third Frontier economic development project, are coming to UC. Funds will be used by the College of Engineering and McMicken College of Arts & Sciences for technology commercialization research. Read more.
