UC Law Returns to Chicago for Catalyst Program

Cincinnati Law just wrapped up its first-ever Catalyst program in Chicago. The Catalyst program gives current students the opportunity to connect with alumni practicing law in both networking and shadowing environments, providing firsthand opportunities for career exploration.

Fourteen Cincinnati Law students traveled to Chicago during fall break to connect with 10 Law alumni volunteers. The program began with a luncheon hosted by alumni Anita Molano, Law ’76, and Richard Chesley, Law ’85, both partners at the firm of DLA Piper. The Catalyst mentors met with students over coffee and lunch to discuss their careers and the realities of practicing in a large firm, including the importance of pro bono work. They also attended courtroom proceedings and shadowed corporate counsel.

Though the Chicago visit was the program’s first, Catalyst coordinator Paula Lampley, Law ’92, plans to enable more future opportunities for students to meet with alumni working in the field. The next Catalyst visit is scheduled for March 18-19 in Washington, D.C., and alumni in the surrounding area are being sought to serve as mentors. Interested alumni may contact Paula Lampley.
