Join us for our annual Science Day program at the UC Center for Field Studies (UCCFS). This family friendly event aims to offer fun and educational activities for adults and children alike. It is also National Honey Bee Day – so be sure to stop by our native honey and plant sale to learn how to support our local bee population.

Adults: $10
Children 12 & under: Complimentary

Lunch is included in the price.

The event takes place rain or shine – please dress appropriately.

Schedule of Activities:

9-11am Service Activity

Help UC faculty remove invasive honeysuckle from the UCCFS grounds. If you are able, please bring the following equipment:

  • Gloves
  • Loppers
  • Hand pruners

Staff will be able to sign off on volunteer hour forms. Space is limited to 20 volunteers.

10 a.m. Science Day Begins

Ongoing activities

  • Bug walk runs every 30 minutes
  • Live animal displays
  • Aquifer kit, water table and groundwater activities
  • Educational crafts
  • Interactive biofuels exhibit
  • Butterfly simulator
  • Native plant garden
  • Archeology exhibit
  • GPS scavenger hunt
  • Honey and native plant sale

11:30am – 1:00pm LUNCH

Lunch provided by Velvet Smoke – owned by DAAP alumnus Matt Schneider '97
(Vegetarian options will be available)

Dessert provided by Buckabee Brownies – owned by A&S alumna Miriam Spitz '05

Due to space limitations, some of these activities (talks and walks) have a capacity limit. Please be sure to sign up for the activities you would like to participate in as indicated. If you only want to participate in the ongoing activities, you do not need to make selections for the other activities.
