Bearcats Welcomed Back for UC Alumni Weekend Festivities

UC Alumni Weekend returns April 20-23 with the UC Distinguished Alumni Celebration gala, Cincinnati Reds and FC Cincinnati outings, Golden Bearcats 50-year reunion, and more.

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati Alumni Association (UCAA) will host its annual UC Alumni Weekend from Thursday, April 20 through Sunday, April 23 on UC’s Uptown campus. Returning alumni will enjoy events that celebrate alumni accomplishments, the bonds between the university and its city, and opportunities to reunite with old friends. Notable events include the UC Distinguished Alumni Celebration, the Bearcats at the Ballpark night with the Cincinnati Reds, and the Golden Bearcats Luncheon.

“Alumni Weekend serves as a spring reunion for our nearly 300,000 UC alumni,” said Jennifer Heisey, UCAA executive director. “Alumni are drawn back to campus to connect with their fellow Bearcats, take part in long-standing UC traditions, and renew their sense of pride in their alma mater.”

Alumni Weekend Highlights

Distinguished Alumni Celebration | Thursday, April 20
Each year, the UC Alumni Association recognizes and celebrates outstanding alumni and their contributions through the Distinguished Alumni Celebration. Four honorees are recognized with UCAA’s signature awards, and alumni in each of UC’s 13 colleges plus Athletics receive Outstanding Alumni Awards. The gala will be held in UC’s Campus Recreation Center.

Bearcats at the Ballpark | Friday, April 21
UCAA’s annual night at the Cincinnati Reds joins the Alumni Weekend lineup for 2017. Everyone in the extended UC community is encouraged to bring their family and friends to Great American Ball Park to see the Reds take on the 2016 World Series Champion Chicago Cubs. The game will include a range of UC-related festivities plus post-game fireworks and a special giveaway to the first 500 fans at the UCAA tent in the Fan Zone.

Sigma Sigma Carnival | Saturday, April 22
Sigma Sigma Carnival returns for its 78th year. The carnival, which is held on Sigma Sigma Commons on UC’s West Campus, is the oldest student-run event at UC. It includes food, drinks, games and fireworks for students, alumni, faculty and staff to enjoy. The event is hosted by Sigma Sigma Men’s Honorary Fraternity.

Darwin T. Turner Scholars Program 40th Anniversary Banquet | Saturday, April 22
The Darwin T. Turner Scholars Program, which helps support the education of outstanding young people from underrepresented groups, celebrates its 40th anniversary at their annual banquet.

FC Cincinnati vs. Louisville City FC | Saturday, April 22
FC Cincinnati, the Queen City’s professional soccer team, returns for its second season at Nippert Stadium. In their third home match, they take on Louisville City FC, and alumni can get discounted tickets to the game.

Golden Bearcats Luncheon | Sunday, April 23
The Golden Bearcats Society will celebrate the Class of 1967 on the 50th anniversary of their graduation from the University of Cincinnati. All alumni who graduated more than 50 years ago, plus their family and friends, are welcome to attend.

UC Parking Services offers paid parking options in many convenient locations on campus.
