Warren Bennis Leadership Experience: "Leaders are Made"
The debate has gone on for decades. At the University of Cincinnati we believe leaders are made, not born. This inaugural 2017 conference topic is inspired by our university's commitment to experiential learning over the last 100 years.
The Warren Bennis Leadership Experience will celebrate 40 years of the University of Cincinnati becoming a state funded institution under the leadership of UC's 22nd President, Warren Bennis. As we approach our University's 200th birthday the aim of the student‐run event is in alignment with the University's plan to further define who we are and why we matter. The University of Cincinnati is where Dr. Bennis learned what it took to be a leader. Telling the "UC Bennis story" will ignite dreams and change the lives of our students and campus for years to come.
Starbucks Coffee Company, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
It all started with a cup of coffee. Howard Schultz, chairman and chief executive officer of Starbucks, first walked into Starbucks in Seattle’s Pike Place Market in 1981. Howard was invited into conversation with these connoisseurs who took great care in not only finding and roasting the highest quality coffee, but also sharing their passion with others. Drawn to Seattle and its extraordinary coffee culture, Howard moved from his native New York and joined Starbucks, in 1982, as director of operations and marketing when Starbucks had only four stores.
