A&S: An Academic's Guide to the NFL Draft
Wednesday, April 22
7-8 p.m.
Virtual
Why did 198 players get drafted before Tom Brady — and how often do NFL teams actually get the draft right?
Join us for “An Academic’s Tour of the NFL Draft,” an engaging conversation with David Niven, professor in the University of Cincinnati College of Arts and Sciences and a Carnegie Fellow. Drawing on years of data-driven research, Niven will explore some of the questions that fans often debate. Is the first overall pick really that much more valuable than the second? Do teams know what they are doing in the later rounds?
Using insights from both NFL and MLB draft analysis, Niven will break down what teams get right, what they get wrong, and how fans can better understand the strategy and uncertainty behind draft decisions. With several Bearcats expected to hear their names called this year, this conversation will give alumni a smarter way to watch the NFL Draft (April 23-25) and a new perspective on how teams build their rosters.
This event is open to all University of Cincinnati alumni, regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, sexual orientation, or any other class or status protected by applicable law.
